BBC GRAPHIC BIAS?

The advice from Nick Clegg to colleagues, to stay away, from yesterday's parliamentary vote on an inquiry, in to whether Jeremy Hunt, has been dishonest in his accounts to Parliament, seems like a sensible and pragmatic idea to me, particularly since the speaker allowed Hunt to be called a liar.

Still I noticed that the BBC took the line, that this would cause great ructions in the coalition, and complimented there objectivity by using the graphic as above, showing (in my opinion) Cameron and Hunt expressing that natural smarmy, superior expression of tory toffs,  meanwhile it looks to me as if some bod, in the BBC art department, has dug deep to find a picture of Clegg with an expression which conveys the look of a hunted and bullied victim.

The assertion that Tory MP's will be looking for revenge, I think has to be journalistic bollix, as I see it Liberal Democrats have done them a favour by abstaining. The coalition is a partnership, of differing viewpoints, something that clearly troubles the BBC and the above graphic, is a less than subtle divisive statement in my view, confirming the hostility which institutionalised BBC lefties, view the government.

    1. The BBC have a definite left wing bias which rears its head constantly. You only have to watch Dimbleby's performance on Question Time, where he repeatedly interupts and contradicts Conservatives, but allows the Labour members free reign, to see it in action.

That said, the BBC's slant on the actions of Nick Glegg are more designed to accentuate splits in the Coalition with a view to bringing it down. Go to the other extreme and the right wing press have Glegg marked down as a treacherous rat.

Clearly the Lib/Dems, having had a taste of power sharing, are hedging their bets a bit and it has already been reported that Vince Cable has been paving the way for a Lib/Lab pact next time. My own view is that the Coalition have done a job when the country desperately needed governance, but I would not want to see power sharing as a norm. Much better to have governments with majorities big enough to carry out their manifesto promises (even if that is said a bit tongue in cheek).

  2. In general I agree but watching last night's episode I would say that Emily the Labour Mouthpiece clearly had not been briefed on the questions and allowing her "free rein" actually helped to make her look a fool. Hitchens performed his usual right wing "it's all down to single mothers" rant straight out of the Mouthpiece of the Female Branch of the British Nazi Party that he writes for. And in contradiction to Tony's beliefs I would say the Mr Fallon, the LibDem, came off best.

  3. With respect, Tony, this is a totally meaningless puppet show.

Every player in this drama, be it the BBC, Sky/Murdoch, the political parties, is answerable to the same corporate financiers.

My guess is that we are being distracted away from more serious issues.

  4. Clegg is the very dangerous brains behind Cameron who is only the front man.

I have solved this political dilemma in a very direct way: I don't vote. On Election Day, I stay home. I firmly believe that if you vote, you have no right to complain. Now, some people like to twist that around. They say, 'If you don't vote, you have no right to complain,' but where's the logic in that? If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent politicians, and they get into office and screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You voted them in. You caused the problem. You have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote -- who did not even leave the house on Election Day -- am in no way responsible for that these politicians have done and have every right to complain about the mess that you created.

    1. Put another way, stay at home, do sweet FA about anything and then complain that nothing gets done. Is that 21st century logic?

    2. Learn how they entrap you into their web of lies and put some effort into learning the truth about how we are turned into a corporate fiction at birth.
